Paul Pogba has come to the defense of his former club Manchester United and launched a dig at Tottenham fans during a chat with supporters.
Tottenham are currently above Manchester United in the Premier League table and claimed an emphatic 3-0 victory over the Red Devils at Old Trafford earlier this season. All of this has led to some fans claiming that Spurs are now superior to United during a video call with Pogba. However, the former United star was quick to defend his former teammates and pointed out that the club have still won trophies in recent seasons, despite their problems, while Tottenham's trophy cabinet remains empty at the modern era.
He declared: “When you win a trophy. In the last two years I think Man United have won a trophy… a cup at least. When your team does that, you call me back and I will say Tottenham are better. »
Pogba, the little spade
United's last Premier League triumph came in 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson, and the club has struggled to challenge for top honors since the legendary Scot resigned. Several managers have tried their luck, with Pogba winning the Europa League and League Cup under José Mourinho, while Louis van Gaal won the FA Cup and Ten Hag the League Cup and FA Cup before being sacked and replaced by Ruben Amorim. In contrast, Tottenham's last trophy came in the League Cup in 2008, and they have not been crowned champions of England since their double in 1961.
Tottenham are currently six points ahead of United in the Europa League standings. Spurs are back in action on Thursday at Galatasaray, while United host PAOK at Old Trafford. As for Pogba, he is expected to resume his career in 2025 after having his doping suspension reduced.
