Sporting Lisbon supporters dreamed of being able to keep Ruben Amorim, at least until the end of the season. After important approaches last summer, the Portuguese technician chose to stay. But Manchester United's offensive was stronger than anything… Ruben Amorim leaves Lisbon to join the North of England. A departure which directly impacts another file, that of Sporting striker, Viktor Gyokeres.

If Viktor Gyokeres signed for Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2023, it is for Ruben Amorim. If he stayed last summer, despite the juicy offers, it was for Ruben Amorim. The departure of his mentor therefore necessarily has an influence on the future of the Swedish trigger, still on fire (16 goals in 10 games!). But a priori, the Manchester United option should be ruled out, as Ruben Amorim himself has just certified: “It costs at least 100 million euros and it is very difficult. I'm not going to bring any player from Sporting in January.”
A boulevard for PSG
At 26, Viktor Gyokeres knows that his career is finally launched and that he has no more time to lose. A transfer in January, to a major European club, is more than a possibility. And PSG is a more than likely option. Paris is the only ambitious team in Europe to have a No. 1 position. And the excellent relations between PSG and Sporting are a major asset for Luis Campos, a fan of the player. To date, nothing seems to be able to get in the way of Gyokeres in Paris. Luis Enrique, who has been playing without a number 9 since the start of the season, could finally have the rare gem available in 2025.
