Overall, the attendance for the match between Stéphanois and Lensois constitutes the 19th best attendance since the start of the season, and of course the best of the season at Geoffroy-Guichard, despite the closure of the balconies and the reduced capacity of visitor parking. The first 18 places in the ranking are occupied by 5 teams: Marseille, Lyon, Paris, Lille and Lens. The 20th place is occupied by a certain Nantes – ASSE, while the 21st concerns the reception of Auxerre at Geoffroy-Guichard.

What is the average attendance despite the sanctions?

Concerning average attendances, ASSE is doing rather well despite two matches played behind closed doors (Le Havre and Lille) and balconies still closed. The average attendance for ASSE stands at 26,845 supporters per match. Over the last two meetings where both Kops were present, the average rose to 34,139 supporters.

The Saint-Etienne residents are not the only ones to have borne the brunt of sanctions from the LFP disciplinary committee: Brest, Lens, Lille, Marseille, Nice Paris and even Rennes. A real massacre which logically weighs down the crowds. Note, however, that depending on the configuration of the stadiums and the type of sanctions, attendances are more or less impacted by the sanctions: when the LFP sanctions a Kop in Saint-Étienne, 8,000 seats are automatically blocked, while that at the Parc des Princes, blocks of the Auteuil bend may be closed, limiting the number of places impacted.

NB 2: Attendances are those communicated by the LFP. They differ from those of the newspaper l’Equipe which are estimates.
