Ligue 1: Nightmare for ASSE!

This weekend the eighth day of League 1 was played. In a championship which promises to be intense and close until its end, this day delivered its verdict. A not positive day for ASSE which had made a big impact on the previous day. Explanations.

The race for Europe in League 1

Monaco 0-0

Monaco, reduced to ten players an hour into the game, then came under increased pressure from Lille. LOSC, now fourth in the standings, only attempted three shots during the match and never really seemed in a position to win. ASM, which created a great opportunity at the end of the match, gave up its place at the top of the championship.

1-1

Brest, in the lead thanks to a penalty from Del Castillo, controlled the second half without managing to make the break, which allowed Jota to equalize in the final minutes. This draw allows SB29 to temporarily move back into the first half of the ranking, while Rennes records a fourth consecutive match without a victory.

4-2

The Parisians were able to bypass Strasbourg’s intense pressing to be effective in attack in a fast-paced match. Barcola particularly shone, as did Mayulu. Although the RCSA never gave up, Luis Enrique’s men found their way to victory and regained the lead in the standings, tied on points with Monaco.

The race to maintain league 1

Saint-Etienne 0-2

RC Lens finally returns to victory after almost two months without success, by winning against ASSE, who remain dangerously close to the relegation zone occupied by . The Sang et Or, dominant and in the lead at half-time, managed to contain the reaction of the Greens. The break goal, scored by Labeau-Lascary, came on Lens’ only shot of the second half.

0-4

In a true show of strength, OL won with ease in Le Havre. Goals from Abner, Fofana, Lacazette and Benrahma sealed the fate of overwhelmed Le Havre. Thanks to this victory, Lyon climbs back to 7th place in the ranking, while the HAC continues its fall and becomes a barrier.

2-1

The spectacle was there at Abbé-Deschamps, where Auxerre won 2-1 against Reims, who recorded their second defeat of the season. Diomandé and Traoré scored the Auxerre goals, while Nakamura reduced the gap for the Rémois at the end of the match. Thanks to this victory, Auxerre climbs to 12th place, while Reims remains 6th in the ranking.

Toulouse 1-1

Angers quickly opened the scoring thanks to Niane, but were then dominated for most of the match. Abdelli missed the opportunity to make the break by missing a penalty for 2-0, allowing Toulouse to come back to score thanks to King. TFC failed to secure its second victory of the season, but still leaves the relegation zone, while SCO remains relegated, still without the slightest victory.

1-1

Nice continues a third consecutive draw in Ligue 1, lacking offensive realism. However, the Aiglons can thank Guessand, who equalized in five minutes thanks to the contribution of substitutes Diop and Laborde. Nantes, non-existent in the first half, showed a completely different face after the break by opening the score and putting Nice in difficulty until the end of the match.

0-5

A week before hosting PSG, OM took a stroll on the Montpellier pitch. A 5-0 victory which plunges Montpellier a little further into crisis!
