A FIFA delegation visited Tlemcen this Thursday, October 17, 2024, to assess the progress of work on the new Regional Technical Center, Kheireddine Zetchi’s flagship project when he was president of the FAF.
This delegation from the FIFA regional development office, composed of Ms. Fatou Binetou Ba NDIAYE and Mr. Davis NDAYISENGA, was accompanied in its mission by the Secretary General of the FAF, Mr. Nadir BOUZENAD.
FIFA, which helped finance this center to the tune of 8 million euros, sent a delegation to Tlemcen for the second time after a visit in 2022.
It should be noted that the construction of the Tlemcen regional technical center launched by Kheireddine Zetchi in 2017 and stopped since 2021, is still nearing completion. Work resumed recently and a deadline of 8 months was announced this time for its delivery.
As a reminder, this center located on the Lalla Setti plateau, must accommodate the selections as well as the regional technical direction of Tlemcen. It was planned to also serve as a federal training center but the policy of the governing body of Algerian football has changed since 2021.
This center must have three football fields and a covered room as well as several educational, medical and accommodation blocks.
