Provence affirmed this Monday that the Olympic refused to promote Qatar despite the agreement concluded within the framework of TV Rights. On RMC In l’After Foot, Andihe Riolo spoke out on this subject and destroyed the Marseille leaders.

“The contract was signed and the deal accepted. I can’t believe that’s not the case. You voted for the Labrune/Nasser pair, don’t take us for idiots. Don’t be a fool just to act like a demagogue to your audience.”

OM does not want Qatar on its jersey

This disagreement follows the acquisition of TV rights by DAZN for an amount of 400 million euros, supplemented by a sum of 100 million euros from beIN Sports. This sum is divided between 80 million euros paid directly by the media and a sponsorship contract of 20 million euros. The latter includes approximately 16.4 million euros intended for the promotion of Qatar Tourism on the jerseys of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs.

However, OM is opposed to the promotion of Qatar and its rival, the Saint-Germainon his jerseys. This position is explained by the fact that the amount proposed seems derisory for the Marseille club, especially in comparison with its current partnership with Ivory Coast. Indeed, each Ligue 1 club should receive around 730,000 euros, while those in Ligue 2 would be satisfied with around 170,000 euros, sums considered insufficient by OM.

According to information reported by La Provence, the amount proposed by beIN Sports is significantly lower than that obtained by a competitor such as “Sublime Côte d’Ivoire”. Despite these disagreements, the Marseille club could consider discussions if the logo of the Qatari sponsor only appears on removable advertising panels before matches, which leaves the door open to a possible negotiation.

In this context, the LFP will have to adjust its proposals to meet the expectations of OM, a club which wishes to preserve its image and its current partnerships while navigating a complex sponsorship landscape.
