La Malibu de Drivethe little story in the big one

In film noir Drivereleased in 2011, Ryan Gosling plays a taciturn character, an underworld driver by night and a mechanic in a small Los Angeles garage by day.

What the general public does not know, however, is that to get into his role the American actor he found a car himself in a car scrapyard in the city of California, which he then repaired with a team of mechanics.

Ryan Gosling still owns the vehicle from the film. The little extras? In the passenger seat, the scorpion satin jacket embroidered on the back has been discarded. And, of course, by listening at the right moment, visitors will hear the title “Nightcall” by Kavinsky, a key piece from the cult soundtrack of Drive.

The Delorean, for a return to your childhood memories

Fun fact, in 1985, the Delorean enjoyed a somewhat special reputation. While at the end of the 70s it was presented as the “car of the future”, its production is finally stopped in 1982 due to the company’s bankruptcy.

When the first film was released, it was seen both as a futuristic car and as a machine already belonging to the past. This explains, in particular, why it breaks down several times…

Tim Burton’s Bat Sculpture on Wheels

At the end of the 80s, the Kitsch Batman from the 60s makes a 180 degree turn. Tim Burton tints it with his gothic and conceptual vision. What the British film designer, Anton Furst, will be responsible for translating by designing his mount, the inevitable Batmobile.

Based on a sketch by Julian Caldowit’s a sort of “sculpture on wheels” that comes into being. This will pose numerous technical problems for manufacturers, who will have to adapt to the “purely aesthetic” design of the machine.

As a result, the bat’s car is 6 meters long and 2.35 meters wide. For the record, the exhibition reminds us that Julian Caldow had not thought at all about the question of “how to get on board” this extraordinary automobile…
