François Letexier (Ligue 1): “We always judge the arbitration to be responsible”

On the occasion of the arbitration days, François Letexier spoke about the criticism that French referees are subject to week after week in .

Best referee in Ligue 1 during the 2024-2025 season, François Letexier was at the forefront of the refereeing days. He took advantage of this spotlight to discuss the climate and the treatment of referees on the French media scene: “The domestic championship is a long-term championship. These are matches every week. Last year, I made 16 in Ligue 1. Only one went badly. Today, people only remember that match. This is where I was in the press for a week. Every time I give a successful performance, there is strangely no line in the media”regrets the one who directed the Euro 2024 final in Germany a few months ago.

François Letexier continues: “We always judge arbitration to be a burden, that’s a fact, as we always judge in general in societyhe says for RMC Sport. On many aspects, we always have a more negative judgment than positive. Arbitration is no exception to the rule. There is this famous adage which says that no one is a prophet in her country. If it was created, it certainly has some truth to it. […] If we take the figures, there were eight French people at the Euro. No other nation can boast of this record”he says in order to underline the export of French arbitration during the biggest European and international competitions.
