On Radio Mérignac, Thierry Milletadvisor to Métropole, was invited to react to the comments of Pierre Hurmicwho thinks that a local investor is needed to get the Girondins back on track. As a reminder, the words of the mayor of Bordeaux were these: “We went from the first division to the fourth division in three years. We hope that local investors will be interested in the future of the club. […] We are working to get local investors interested in this future, to ensure local roots and sustainability.”

Thierry Millet I think that it is not primarily on this criterion that we should focus, but on competence and financial strength.

“That’s not how I approach this issue. The recovery, if there were to be Girondins de Bordeaux, would have to be done by people with skills and resources. If they are local, from Aquitaine, why not, but there you go… The criteria are objective criteria, and they cannot be political criteria. You have to have a skill. It is not because we come from the department or the region that we have more legitimacy than someone else to manage a club like that. You must have both the skills and the financial resources”
