Olympique de conceded a draw at home this Friday evening against (1-1). A new poor performance after the defeat against . Guest of the Bartoli Time show this Sunday, former OM defender Marcel Desailly analyzed the start of the season for Roberto De Zerbi’s men. According to him, the Marseillais do not yet seem able to compete for the title with PSG. He explains why.

After an excellent start to the season, the Olympians have already dropped 5 points against Strasbourg and Angers during the last two days of Ligue 1. For the former Olympian Marcel DesaillyOM could quickly come up against their limits. The former French international is therefore cautious about the performance of the Marseille team. This is what he explained on the airwaves of RMC in the show Bartoli Time.

When you play for OM, you have to be international

“It’s a team that can make shots. This collective will please us from time to time and then we will see the fall. If they manage to keep this squad and add two top internationals it might not be bad (…) From the moment you don’t take first choice players with experience, it’s like an accordion . The player, thanks to the pressure, is at 150% and suddenly he makes a mistake. He is in overdrive because the player is not of the caliber of OM. When you play for OM, you have to be international or surrounded by top choice or experienced players,” explains the former OM player before concluding:

“I had enormous pressure at OM. I had to go to Monaco. I needed the pressure to express myself and Marseille suited me perfectly. It’s a different generation, of course, but I was surrounded by experienced players and it worked.”

When the international break resumes, Roberto De Zerbi’s men will challenge , another team in difficulty, before facing PSG in the highly anticipated Classic on October 27.
