The second cycle of the 2024-2025 season has come to an end at the end of this umpteenth weekend of competition and the seventh day of Ligue 1. Time for the international break in October!
From October 7 to 15, the French and European games temporarily give way to international confrontations, whether friendly or crucial. This will allow part of the Lille locker room to breathe, both physically and mentally, while the last outings have been energy-consuming at all levels. However, this does not concern the entire group of Bruno Genesio, a good part of which was summoned to represent his respective selection during this month of October. There are eleven to have been summoned, a significant total while some Lille internationals have been preserved (Thomas Meunier) or are injured (Haraldsson, Mukau, Mbappé).
Jonathan David (24 ans)
Jonathan David (24) continues, having recently played his fifteenth match of the season against Toulouse FC this Saturday. However, despite the frenetic pace, he will have to leave the Old Continent again to defend the standard of Canada. The Canadian was called up by Jesse Marsch, whose players will appear during a friendly meeting scheduled for October 16 (1:30 a.m.) against Panama. The Lille player is accompanied by Derek Cornelius and Moïse Bombito who are currently playing in Marseille and Nice.
Mohamed Bayo (26 ans)
Losing momentum with LOSC, a team with which he has only appeared six times this season for a goal, Mohamed Bayo remains a recognized scorer in Guinea with whom he has once again been called up. Author of an achievement during the last gathering, he undoubtedly hopes to do the same on October 11 and 14, dates of duel with Ethiopia in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Angel Gomes (24 years old)
Conquered by his first steps in the selection, Lee Carsley, England coach, chose to recall Angel Gomes, who had experienced his first start with the Three Lions in September. The pocket midfielder will defend his white and blue colors during duels with Greece (10/10) and Finland (13/10) in the Nations League. The objective remains the same, to return to League A in this competition.
Edon Zhegrova (25 years)
It was one of the unexpected soap operas of the month of September. A true star in his country, Edon Zhegrova (25 years old) was suddenly excluded from the Kosovo selection without a clear justification being given, except by the main person concerned at a press conference.
Kosovo coach, Franco Foda quickly stopped the bleeding, recalling Edon Zhegrova in October. He will once again wear the colors of his nation to face Lithuania (12/10) and Cyprus (15/10) in the heart of League C of the Nations League.
Osame Sahraoui (23 years old)
The selectors gradually reveal the identity of those summoned, like Morocco which faces the Central African Republic on October 12 and 15 for two friendly matches. Walid Regragui, who recently declared his joy at being able to count on Osame Sahraoui, called him up for the very first time with the Atlas Lions. The 23-year-old from Lille changed his sporting nationality during the month of September. He had a selection with Norway, his country of birth.
Aïssa Mandi (32 years old)
Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic revealed over the past week his list of players selected to face Togo on October 10 in Annaba and October 14 in Lomé as part of the 3rd and 4th days of the CAN qualifiers. 2025. An experienced member of the Lille locker room, Aïssa Mandi is also an experienced member of the Fennecs with whom he was called up. However, he has not enjoyed indisputable starting status at LOSC since the start of the season. He has appeared six times for Lille so far.
Gabriel Gudmundsson (25 ans)
Gabriel Gudmundsson is making his mark, both with the Mastiffs and in the selection with which he has once again been called up. In competition with Ludwig Augustinsson, the Swede benefits from significant playing time (13 matches, 950 minutes) to become a real option in the eyes of Jon Dahl Tomasson, former Danish international. He will defend the colors of his nation in duels with Slovakia (October 11) and Estonia (10/14). Resident of League C, Sweden is preparing to promote itself to the next level during the month of October in the Nations League.
Tiago Santos (22 years old)
In competition with Thomas Meunier, Tiago Santos (22 years old) sees his international stature diminish despite a remarkable final performance against Real Madrid. Called up by Roberto Martinez with the A during the month of September, the Portuguese must be satisfied with the U23 category in October. He will play two matches against the Faroe Islands (11/10) and Andorra (15/10) as part of qualifying for the Under-21 Euro. The Lille player and his friends are currently off to a good start with 21 points gleaned in eight matches and four points ahead of Greece, their runner-up.
Bouaddi (17 years old), Olmeta (19 years old), Touré (19 years old)
Many elements are affected by the truce, from the most experienced to the youngest, like Lisandru Olmeta (19 years old), Ousmane Touré (19 years old) and Ayyoub Bouaddi (17 years old). These three troublemakers were summoned by Bernard Diomède and will defend the colors of the France U20 team on October 11 and 14 in Clairefontaine. During these slots, it will face Morocco in two friendly oppositions, a double opposition far from insignificant for the last named whose international future will be played out between these two nations. This is preparation for the 2025 U20 World Cup planned in Chile.
