Brighton v Crawley Town

Carabao Cup Second Round match at the AMEX Stadium, Brighton
TV: Sky Sports+, Tuesday, 7:45pm

Brighton to win and over 2.5 goals

New Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has enjoyed a perfect start to life in English football with two wins in his opening pair of Premier League games.

A 3-0 victory on the opening weekend at Everton was followed up by a last gasp 2-1 home win over Manchester United ahead of Hurzeler’s first taste of the Carabao Cup.

He will follow the pattern of every Premier League manager in this competition, and rotate his team massively, but Brighton are riding a wave right now and they should have too much for EFL League One opponents Crawley Town.

Everton v Doncaster Rovers

Carabao Cup Second Round match at Goodison Park, Liverpool
TV: Sky Sports+, Tuesday, 7:45pm

Everton to win and under 2.5 total goals

It’s been a miserable start to the 2024/25 season for Sean Dyche and Everton with successive heavy Premier League losses to Brighton and Tottenham in the opening fortnight.

The Toffees will not want this to be their final Carabao Cup game at Goodison Park, but they may need to battle to avoid an embarrassing exit, despite Sean Dyche’s lack of enthusiasm for the competition.

Dyche took them to the quarter finals last season, and a win, in any form inside 90 minutes, will be a boost for the Blues.

Leicester City v Tranmere Rovers

Carabao Cup Second Round match at the King Power Stadium, Leicester
TV: Sky Sports+, Tuesday, 7:45pm

Tranmere Rovers (+2)

This game carries some anorak nostalgia in a re-run of the 2000 League Cup final as Matt Elliott’s double secured a Wembley win for Martin O’Neill’s Foxes over John Aldridge’s Rovers.

Additionally, Leicester also beat Tranmere at this very stage last season, as they pushed for promotion back to the Premier League.

Steve Cooper will ring the changes, on the back of a mixed start to their EPL return, and that gives a chance for an upset with Tranmere losing just one of their opening five games of the campaign. Tranmere are a good price to cover a +2 handicap.

Birmingham City v Fulham

Carabao Cup Second Round match at St. Andrews, Birmingham
TV: Sky Sports Football/Sky Sports Main Event, Tuesday, 8:00pm

Both teams to score

Birmingham City have enjoyed a strong start to their League One campaign and they host Fulham still unbeaten across all competitions under new boss Chris Davies.

They have scored in all four games, and could give Fulham a real battle, despite the Cottagers winning at home to Leicester over the weekend.

Crystal Palace v Norwich City

Carabao Cup Second Round match at Selhurst Park, London
TV: Sky Sports+, Tuesday, 8pm

Under 2.5 goals

This could be a tense affair as Crystal Palace attempt to get up and running for the season following consecutive defeats in the Premier League. They’ve scored one goal in two games, conceding four in the process. They might be planning on keeping this tight and trying to grind it out.

Norwich struggled past Stevenage in the first round but have failed to win any of their three other competitive matches in this campaign. With both looking short on confidence it may pay to go low in the goals markets.

7:45pm – Brighton v Crawley Town
Brighton to win and over 2.5 goals

7:45pm – Everton v Doncaster Rovers
Everton to win and under 2.5 goals

7:45pm – Leicester City v Tranmere Rovers
Tranmere (+2)

8:00pm – Birmingham City v Fulham
Both teams to score

8:00pm – Crystal Palace v Norwich City
Under 2.5 goals
