Villarreal wins in extremis against Celta Vigo (4-3) and temporarily takes the lead in the championship

Villarreal won by a hair’s breadth against Celta Vigo on Monday in the opening match of the 3rd day of LaLiga (4-3)

And three for Villarreal! The Yellow Submarine have now gone a third match without defeat in La Liga after their victory against Celta Vigo at the Madrigal.

However, it was Celta who started well with a goal in the 12th minute from Borja Iglesias. But Villarreal would equalize a few minutes later through Sergi Cardona before Oscar Mingueza scored his second goal in two consecutive games, giving Vigo the advantage (31st, 1-2).

In the second half, the match will get going and Marcelino Garcia’s men will score one after the other (60th and 64th) to lead 3-2 at home. However, ten minutes from the end, Pape Gueye’s teammates, who came on as a substitute, will suffer Celta’s equalizer (3-3). They even came close to being punished by Iago Aspas who hit the post in the 88th. Claudio Giraldez’s protégés once again demonstrate their resilience at the start of the championship.

Taking advantage of the very last action of the match, Villarreal will benefit from a penalty which will be converted in two stages by Dani Parejo (90+8). Final score 4-3, Villarreal snatches the victory and places themselves provisional leader of the championship.
