German ref Svan Jablonski briefly halted the Europa League tie as pyrotechnics were let off in a stand and fireworks soared into the sky.

Now SunSport understands Belgian match delegate Johny Vanspauwen has submitted his report to European football’s governing body – with the flashpoint right at the very top.

Last month Servette were heavily punished for a similar incident during their Europa Conference League play-off against Chelsea.

The Swiss side – whose supporters also let off fireworks and flares – were hit with a whopping 43,000 euros fine.

In addition, the section of their stadium normally used by Servette’s so-called Ultras is to be closed for their next European match.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Galatasaray have also been hit with similar sanctions in recent years.

Now Gers fear a similar punishment, with partial closures not ruled out for subsequent home games in this season’s group stage.

Gers’ next home Europa League match is against Romanian side Steaua Bucharest on October 24.

They are also due to host Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham in December and Belgian side Union SG at the end of January.

Any closure would be a major blow to Gers, who just returned to Ibrox after delayed work on the Copland Road Stand.

Meanwhile, another banner unfurled by Rangers supporters is also understood to be under investigation in Nyon.
