Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has been on everyone’s lips since its release and that’s normal: obviously, we didn’t have to wait long for modders to get on board.

Anything that makes you happy

On October 7, a new episode of the Dudokai Tenkaichi saga finally saw the light of day: it’s called Sparking Zero and yes, it’s the missile that everyone was waiting for. This totally over-the-top 3D fighting game is a gigantic tribute to Toriyama’s illustrious saga with permissive gameplay, staging that does not hesitate to be gigantic and a mind-blowing number of 182 playable characters. Enough to enjoy it for a very, very long time.

However, it was without counting on the desire of modders to make their contribution : neither one nor two, the smart guys managed to include new “fighters” in the Bandai Namco game. For example, the video that is getting a lot of attention at the moment illustrates a Pokémon trainer inflicting a beating on a Wailordthe second largest Pokémon in history which is similar to a kind of blue whale. And it’s worth the detour.

Always more

On Nexusmods.com, a reference platform for offering your own mods and downloading those of others, dozens and dozens of suggestions are made for tinkering with Dragon Ball Sparkling Zero. There we find slightly more subtle effects imitating the anime, the music of Budokai Tenkachi 3, but also other totally crazy characters: for example, we can play with… Shrek.

Do you want more? Modders liked to add CJ from San Andreas, Donkey Kong, Kratos from God of War or even the iconic Xenomorph from the Alien saga.

The game was released less than a month ago and has every chance of lasting for years, so it’s a safe bet that hundreds of more or less crazy mods are still to come. Enough to make an unofficial competitor to Super Smash Bros. ?
