The culé squad achieved its seventh consecutive victory in the Spanish League and equaled FC Barcelona’s second best start in the entire history of the competition.
The Blaugrana team received a visit from Getafe this Wednesday at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium, and the visiting team arrived in the capital of Catalonia with the pressure of not knowing victory since the beginning of August.
Unfortunately for “Getafe”, the culé squad is in a moment of ecstasy in the league competition, and with the help of the Polish Robert Lewandowski they managed to equal the record of the Spanish Ernesto Valverde in the 2017-18 season.
Now, the Blaugrana team is just one victory away from the absolute record, achieved by the Argentine Gerardo “El Tata” Martino in 2013, who began his only campaign as the club’s coach with eight wins in a row.
FC Barcelona played the seventh day of La Liga with eight injured players, including: Marc-André ter Stegen, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen and Marc Bernal.
Raphinha, the club’s fourth captain this season, had to take to the Montjuic pitch as the team leader in the absence of the first three Barça leaders, who will be out of the field for several months.
The first and only Blaugrana score against Getafe would come from the feet of their Polish scorer, who took advantage of the rival goalkeeper’s rebound to send the ball into the back of the net.
So far, Lewandowski is the top scorer in La Liga 24-25, with seven goals in seven games, surpassing his Brazilian teammate Raphinha who has five goals to his name, as well as the merengue player, Kylian Mbappé.
For its part, the Catalan team remains undefeated and leads the championship with 21 points, closely followed by Real Madrid with 17 points and in third place is Athletic Club with 13 points.
