Finalist of the CAN 2023 in Ivory Coast, Nigeria got back on track in the best possible way against Benin on the first day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers (3-0 victory) after losing to the same opponent in June during the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

It is therefore the Super Eagles in full confidence who will challenge Rwanda in group D this Tuesday in Kigali.

On Saturday, it was thanks to a double from Ademola Lookman and a goal from Victor Osimhen that the Super Eagles avoided the trap of Benin who, two months earlier, had beaten them in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Côte d’Ivoire (2-1). An important victory when we know that Nigeria needed it to start the qualifications for the CAN 2025 well.

As for Rwanda, the first day was a little more laborious. On Wednesday, the Amavubi drew (1-1) against Libya. A draw certainly, but very encouraging for a team that has been improving more and more in recent months. In one year, Rwanda has only conceded one defeat and even allowed itself to hold Senegal in check (1-1) and better, to win against South Africa (2-0). Proof that they are also confident at the moment and will want to give their all against the Nigerian ogre.

It is therefore a trap match that awaits the Super Eagles in Kigali this Tuesday. The meeting is therefore to be taken very seriously by Augustine Eguavoen if he wants to continue and obtain 6 points in two matches.
