Many plants are recognized for their benefits on intestinal transit, offering a natural alternative to drug treatments. Among them, some stand out for their effectiveness and ease of use. These plants must be used with caution and in addition to a balanced diet and sufficient hydration. In the event of persistent disorders, it is always recommended to consult a health professional.

The essential oil of this Middle Eastern plant stimulates the glands of the gastric mucosa, acts against intestinal spasms and has antiseptic properties. Served at the end of a meal in Indian restaurants, its seeds are chewed to aid digestion. They are also taken as a herbal tea to stimulate the appetite at a rate of 3 g of crushed seeds for 150 ml of simmering water, three times a day.

It is recommended in cases of difficult digestion to relieve acute abdominal pain. It is one of the rare plants that can be used in children from 3 months against colic. It is taken in the form of an infusion of dried fruits (never in the form of essential oil in children or pregnant women): 1 to 2 g per day between 3 months and 1 year, 1.5 to 3 g per day between 1 and 4 years, 3 to 5 g per day between 4 and 12 years, between 5 and 7 g from 12 years. Do not exceed one week of treatment in children, two weeks in adults.
