A 24-year-old young man was due to appear before the Dieppe judicial court in January 2025 for acts committed in the Pays de Bray. And in particular the use of a bank card borrowed from a “friend”.

But he didn't show up. Alone the victimresident of a town near Saint-Saëns, was present. She explained that she had met this young man on a dating site and that following the death of his fathershe had gone through a difficult time.

Damage of 1,380 euros

While she gives him her credit card with the code to make a simple withdrawal of 50 euros, he keeps it and uses it in bars, restaurants and in a hotel.

In total, the damage amounts to 1,380 euros. This is the sum claimed by the victim as well as 400 euros for moral damage.

For the court, there is guilt

During his hearing, the defendant contested the facts and indicated that the victim had given him her agreement for all of these expenses. He only agrees to recognize 190 euros of diversion.

Pour the courthis guilt is nevertheless established. He condemns him as requested the Prosecutor's Office to a suspended prison sentence of two months and to reimburse all the damage to the victim as well as 100 euros in respect of moral damage.
