It’s confirmed, the future Dacia Sandero will be entitled to an electric version!

Dacia, which took the time to think, would have finally decided the fate of the next Sandero. It will indeed be entitled to an electric version, in addition to the usual range.

We could almost compare Dacia's strategy to that of Toyota: two brands which approach the theme of electromobility with caution. Of course, the reasons are quite distant. For Toyota, it is not a problem of final costs, but rather of offering the right vehicle at the right time and not missing out. For Dacia, the brand's competitiveness must not be diluted by the proliferation of electric cars, which are still significantly more expensive than their thermal counterparts.. And the issue is all the more sensitive for Dacia which is preparing the new Sandero, the face of which we will discover in 2027. Dacia had nevertheless implicitly explained last year that it would clarify its strategy in 2025 regarding the famous Sandero. The general director has indeed just shed some important light.

With its CMF-type modular platforms, the Renault group has a little flexibility which has precisely enabled Dacia to postpone the decision deadline. Which, however, was taken: the very first electric Sandero will see the light of day by the end of 2027. It will take the platform of the Renault 5.

Dacia has just over two years left to refine the product, the prototypes of which are still jealously guarded since no example has taken to the air with its final bodywork. Denis Le Vot adds that Dacia will release around two models per year in the coming years. Sign of an offensive started by the Jogger, which continued with the Bigster and which will also place hybridization at the heart of the strategy: in addition to being electric, this Sandero will also be hybrid, so as not to deprive itself of tens of thousands of sales which made it successful.

As our colleagues at Automotive News point out, the stakes are high for the Renault group since Dacia is a “big” emitter of CO2 with low electrification of the fleet. Hybridization and the launch of electric models therefore seem essential to stay on track. This will start with new hybrid versions in the catalog, notably on Duster and Bigster, and the replacement of the gasoline 4×4 Duster by a hybrid 4×4 which will benefit from a small electric motor on the rear axle.
