XV of France – First reassuring news for Romain Taofifenua left injured in the knee

During the match against the Stormers, Racing 92 international second row Romain Taofifenua was injured. Bad news for the Blues staff but the first news is intended to be reassuring as the first training sessions at Marcoussis are scheduled for this Monday.

It has become a bit of a routine for Fabien Galthié and his staff before each Blues gathering. The coaches of the French XV are crossing their fingers to avoid seeing players present in the group of 42 leave with injury. The management of the French team must have been reassured to see Uini Atonio starting with on the Treviso pitch a week after the right pillar left due to injury against Leinster. On the other hand, the worry of the day for them came from the La Défense Arena during the meeting between Racing 92 and the Stormers in the Champions Cup.

Breakage on the second line

At the 45e only, Romain Taofifenua had to give up his place to Boris Palu. The 34-year-old international second row (53 caps) was then seen on his team's bench with an ice pack on his knee. In the post-match conference, English manager Stuart Lancaster was reassuring, declaring that his player had simply taken a hit.

Case to be continued for the former Lyonnais while in this position, Cyril Cazaux (four caps) has calf discomfort and therefore cannot join Marcoussis when Mickaël Guillard is injured for a long time. On the other hand, Romain's teammate “Tao” in Ile-de- Cameron Woki (31 caps) could replace him if there is a proven injury.

As a reminder, Gaël Fickou (Racing 92), Alexandre Roumat (), Reda Wardi (La Rochelle) and Jonathan Danty (La Rochelle) are injured and do not appear in Fabien Galthié's first list in 2025.
