After many years spent in Toulouse, Lucas Tauzin challenged himself to get out of his comfort zone and committed to Clermont. A profitable choice when we see the player's playing time this season: eleven matches played out of fifteen, and all as a starter, on the wing or in the center. He has already almost reached the playing time he experienced last season with Toulouse (fifteen matches played, thirteen the previous season).
Lucas Tauzin was a very promising young talent, but who never managed to definitively settle into the Toulouse group, and in particular because of injuries which constantly slowed him down in his progress. By deciding to leave for other horizons, Lucas Tauzin wanted to give himself, as he declared to Midi Olympique, the possibility of finding a squad where he could settle down and gain more importance. While learning to discover another universe, another way of working, another region (which he really appreciates).
Perhaps I was tired of being only, or almost only, used during international periods. I felt that I needed to experience something else, to feel important in another group. Both personally and professionally, it was the time to establish myself in another team, because I had only known Stade Toulouse professionally.
“He brings us this extra soul”
Lucas Tauzin joined Clermont because he feels a “high level desire” within this club. And his playing time proves it: for the moment he is giving complete satisfaction to his staff. A satisfaction confirmed by Christophe Urios, again with Midi Olympique. The coach appreciates having in front of him a player who has ants in his legs, with the desire to fully express himself after having been subjected to severe competition and injuries in Toulouse, and who has the major advantage a versatility that is always valuable in a group over the course of a season.
Lucas is integrating perfectly. Three things pushed us to recruit him. First, he's Jiff; then, he has this versatility that we did not have before his arrival (…) Finally, beyond his rugby quality, it was his revengeful side. Not in relation to Toulouse, but in the state of mind, what he could bring to the team. In other words, the idea was that it brings us this extra soul, because it comes from a place where that is very present.
