The Union Bordeaux-Bègles has, a bit like Toulouse, many French internationals, some of whom are very young but with a great future. We obviously think of Louis Bielle-Biarrey but we can also think of Nicolas Depoortère, who revealed himself to the general public last season. Deprived of the November tour due to injury, the Bordeaux center is applying for a place for the 6 Nations tournament, and even more so since we learned of the injury to Gaël Fiickou, who will miss part of the minimum competition .
Nicolas Depoortère is a product of the Gironde training, he who plays at UBB since Minimes. But the transition from youth teams to the professional team does not happen like that, with the snap of a finger. And it doesn't matter how long we've been at the club. AND to integrate into the first team, Nicolas Depoortère received help from a former member of the club, Jean-Baptiste Dubié. And during an appearance on the club podcast “On the edge of the field”, the young center wanted to thank his elder for his valuable help. An inspiring mentor, who almost makes Nicolas Depoortère want to do the same one day, if he still has time for that.
Jean-Baptiste supported me a lot, helped me develop a lot. I thank him because in my position, he is one of the players who helped me a lot to develop in the Top 14. It's a little early for me to say that I'm going to do it, but I would like him to to do when I am part of the old category.
Leadership that increases
Today, Nicolas Depoortère no longer really needs someone to appear as part of the Bordeaux first team. So much so that Yannick Bru has even already appointed him captain, a role he had already occupied within the French U20 team. Nicolas Depoortère accepts these responsibilities with great serenity, because he feels well surrounded. And there is a trust to be given behind it.
I am very honored to have been able to be captain for the UBB. It's a role that I took to heart. I thank the staff and the other players because it is a mark of confidence that they place in me. I feel comfortable in this group, which allows me to speak well, to communicate, and not to be shy. It's a whole.
To summarize
The Union Bordeaux-Bègles has, a bit like Toulouse, many French internationals, some of whom are very young but with a great future. We obviously think of Louis Bielle-Biarrey but we can also think of Nicolas Depoortère. The center received help from an elder to facilitate his integration and today, he is so comfortable in his group that he is establishing himself as a leader, a role in which he feels good.
