While appearing on the Canal + show “Face Cam”, the Toulouse third row returned with emotion to his relationship with his deceased great-grandfather, in whose memory he wears a tattoo recalling their shared passion for Rugby.
Tattoos have long been a key element of rugby culture: a reminder of their origins, important moments in their career, commitment to their team… rugby players have various reasons for wearing them on their bodies.
It is a beautiful family story which is at the origin of that of Mathis Castro-Ferreira. A touching story that he told in front of the Canal + cameras in a mini-documentary broadcast this Saturday, December 22.

“It’s me little with a rugby ball, and the stars are him up there,” he explained. “I grew up with my great-grandfather. When I went to Toulouse at 14, I saw him very proud.
