THE SPORT SCAN – Mexican player Diego Aguilar received the crossbar hanging from the poles square on the head after scoring a try against Bermuda.
Surreal scene… which could have been dramatic. On November 24, during the victory of the Mexican Rugby sevens team against Bermuda (14-0) in the quarter-final of the Americas North Seven, Diego Aguilar scored a good try, which could have cost life.
The Mexican player, when flattening the ball, was unbalanced by a Bermudian who was desperately trying to make a defensive return. Aguilar then hit the poles which caused the crossbar to come loose. The latter collapsed right on the head of the rugby player, who ended up stunned and his skull split open.
