Rugby league was celebrated this Monday on the grounds of the Desprats stadium during the Jean Quaranta Tournament organized by Cahors XIII Rugby League chaired by Stéphanie Calvet-Baldy.
Four hundred children in the U7, U9, U11 and U13 categories took part in this wonderful day of rugby league which took place under beautiful sunshine. Thirteen clubs from Occitanie (Villefranche 81, Valderiès, Albi, Lescure, Toulouse Olympique XIII, Aigues-Vives, Toulouse Jules Julien, Villefranche-de-Rouergue and Cahors XIII Rugby League which presented a team in each category) and from Nouvelle-Aquitaine (Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Trentels, Clairac and Pujols) were represented during this tournament which takes place in two phases.
“In the morning, group matches take place and we make sure to compose the groups with teams who are not used to meeting each other,” explains Frédéric Baldy, educator at Cahors XIII Rugby League and treasurer of Cahors Lot XIII.
“In the afternoon, level groups are organized. During the day all the teams play the same number of matches and there is no ranking, the aim being that the teams, who are all rewarded at the end, have fun.”
For this tournament, “which is one of the first major tournaments of the season”, continues Frédéric Baldy, more than fifty volunteers from Cahors XIII Rugby League and Cahors Lot XIII are mobilized “as well as a large number of parents who were involved in the organization” rejoices Frédéric Baldy who gives a very positive assessment of this day.
“Everything went perfectly, the weather was ideal and the atmosphere was very good. Everyone left delighted with their day.
