Questioned by La Dépêche du Midi about the new charter put in place for the French team, Pierre Berbizier believes that it is not necessarily a good solution. The former scrum-half calls for player accountability.

Following the affairs which tarnished the image of and the French team this summer, the management of the Blues decided to establish a new living environment, to which the players must now adhere.

According to Pierre Berbizier, “it is not just a charter that will simply change things”. “The real subject is not the measures taken, the words, but how we apply them” believes the former coach of the XV of France.

In this new charter, the FFR has devoted a large section to alcohol consumption. The latter will be prohibited on the installations of the XV of France. On this subject, the former scrum half pleads for a logic of education for young players. “From now on, we are entering into a logic of infantilization and no longer of accountability,” he regrets. And also added: “It’s still the French team, we should be able to use responsible language with the players who represent the selection.”
