Toulon – Lyon: 21-10
A week after its spanking suffered in Toulouse (57-5), Toulon provided the essentials at home this Saturday, winning without a bonus against Lyon (21-10). Not very enthusiastic in the game, the Varois escaped thanks to the power of their forwards, authors of two tries in the first period (Priso 18th, Baubigny, 30th), and to a personal exploit from their left winger Jiuta Wainiqolo, who collected a pass at the foot of Paolo Garbisi on his 22m line before crossing the entire field, eliminating four defenders to score (57th). The Lyonnais did try to react in the second half (strong try by Théo William, 44th), but they lacked far too much efficiency and inspiration in the scoring zone to hope to make up for their home defeat in Toulon in the last weekend against Bayonne (38-49).
