This Friday evening at Domec for the reception of Périgueux (7:30 p.m.), Argentinian scrum-half Tomas Munilla, Spanish international, will lead the maneuver behind the sixteen legs of US Carcassonne.
How did you judge your first match as a starter at Massy (6-12 victory)?
It was already my first 100% match. For my part, I had a very positive match. Compared to the weather conditions and therefore the rain, I felt that at the hinge, with Gabin Michet, we managed the match very well. It was a very good first step to start my season with my new team.
Your was your first collaboration with Gabin Michet a success?
Yes. I get along very well with “Gabs”, both outside and during training. But this is also the case with Johnny McPihillips. Frankly, we have very good players, and whether with one or the other, it's a pleasure to play alongside them.
I want to experience great things with this team.
You are going to have a second consecutive tenure, isn't that ideal to prove your qualities?
Already, basically, a Rugby player always wants to play. I had a somewhat complicated start to the season, let's say, I came from another club and I immediately got injured for two months… But once you are physically at 100%, like I am now , we are of course looking forward to playing all the matches as a starter. I love competition and just because of that I want to compete in all the matches.
Does this change anything in the approach to this meeting?
It is certain that being in the dynamic of the group after a personally complicated start to the year where I saw the team doing well, we want to get on this train precisely because the team is living well and playing well. We want to be right in it. It changes from that. Now, I want to experience great things with this team.
Obviously you could play a second full match in the scrum in the absence of Gaëtan Pichon…
I feel very good physically. So there is no problem with that. If I have to do it, I do it. Especially since we have just had a week without a match, the freshness is there.
Under the colors of Bourgoin-Jallieu, you have already met them twice last season, how do you see this Périgueux team?
It's an ambitious team that wants to play at the top of the table. She has been in the Top 6 since the start of the season. I played it last year. We know his strengths. In 2023-2024, with the CSBJ we won at home and lost there. The CAP has players from Pro D2 and Top 14, and after watching the videos, we know that it is a very big match that awaits us on Friday evening.
