Antoine Dupont and Stade Toulousain, a story that seems to last a long time. At 27 years old, the star scrum half of the team does not see himself wearing any colors other than those of in the Top 14. During an interview with South Radiohe declared: “ Today, I can't see playing for another club in the Top 14 than Stade Toulousain. I have no reason to change. »

For Dupont, all the lights are green in Toulouse: “ I am lucky to be in a successful club, in a pleasant city to live in and which is not far from where I am from. So all the factors come together to be able to continue to flourish here. » Nevertheless, the door does not seem closed to an experience abroad, whether in Japan, New Zealand or the USA.

Dupont loyal to Stade Toulousain

But what about after rugby? On this point, the captain of the Blues is cautious. Dupont does not feel the need to plan for a future as a coach, a choice that sets him apart from many former players. Coaching isn't really something that appeals to him. Today, he is not planning on training. « You can never say never. But when I see the hours they work and the stress of everyday life, it doesn't make me want it. »

It must be said that he is still far from finished with his playing career. And this, even if he has not yet set a course for the 2031 World Cup in the United States. He knows that his body and his head will decide in due time. « I'll see how my body will be by then. And my head too, because that's what dictates whether we continue or stop playing at a given moment. »

Post-rugby, not for now

The Toulouse player, however, allows himself projects outside the field. Recently he joined morpho, an innovative company in drone reforestation. Dupont joined forces with other personalities such as former footballer Raphaël Varane and Benjamin Kayser, former Blues hooker. An approach which shows its desire to diversify its interests while supporting an ecological cause.

For now, Antoine Dupont remains focused on his career, his team and his immediate objectives. He says it: post-rugby is not yet on the agenda. But he knows he will have « need to cut » when retirement time comes. No rush for the captain, who wants to be as careful as he is committed.

Stade Toulousain therefore still has good days to share with its scrum half, to the great delight of the supporters. Dupont embodies this rare loyalty in modern rugby, where players are increasingly solicited by offers from all over the world. A loyalty that could inspire younger generations, while consolidating its legend within the tricolor oval.
