What the FFR investigation report says about the responsibilities of Stéphane Cambos
“Stéphane Cambos said that the idea of a recovery session at Dias Beach was proposed by Robin Ladauge. Drawing on his past missions at the DDJS -DDCSPP des Landes, where for 14 years he was responsible for controlling surf schools on sometimes dangerous beaches, he, for his part, would have expressed ”reluctance to the entire staff” during the meeting of August 6, 2024 (the day before the tragedy) ”but also several times during the day [du 7 août 2024]on the bus, at the boulders Penguins then at [leur] arrival at Cape Point (in the visits scheduled that day)”. He would have again expressed his disapproval to Robin Ladauge in the water, which would have hastened the end of the session. These latest statements do not fit well with other testimonies reporting an initial session of around fifteen minutes extended, at the request of the players, by five minutes.. »
“The FFR also questions the decision-making process which led to the holding of this session, while Stéphane Cambos, sports manager of the U18 team, declared having perceived the risks linked to Dias Beach upstream of the session, without having canceled it. »
