11-year-old boy suspected of Islamic radicalism

LSwiss police are investigating an 11-year-old boy who was allegedly radicalized by Islamists, the youngest ever implicated in such a case in Switzerland, the public broadcaster reported Friday. Police in the southern Swiss canton of Valais questioned the boy in June in connection with “racist and discriminatory content” he allegedly posted on social media, according to the public broadcaster, which saw its information confirmed by the cantonal juvenile court.

The child reportedly admitted to having had contact with people involved in extremist movements abroad. The court did not identify the extremist movements in question, but according to the public broadcaster they were Islamist and jihadist groups.
