Will the scandal surrounding the defective airbags of the Japanese brand Takata ever end? To date, more than 530,000 vehicles, Citroën C3s and DS3s sold between 2009 and 2019 in Europe and the Maghreb are affected, including 246,000 in France. On August 21, Stellantis launched a new recall campaign for thousands of cars and announced that it had already repaired 102,000 cars in France, Portugal, Italy and Spain. But according to Le Dauphiné Libéré, another manufacturer is the victim of these defective airbags: Skoda.
The Czech brand has in fact used Takata airbags in several of its cars and is recalling many models: Citigo, Roomster, Praktik, Fabia II, Fabia III, Rapid, Octavia III, Superb III, Karoq and Kodiaq (passenger car). These models were produced between September 24, 2012 and June 27, 2014. Contacted by Le Dauphiné, Skoda did not wish to respond to the extent of the recall, but our colleagues mention no less than 100,000 vehicles, because between 2011 and 2018, 186,000 cars of the brand were sold in France.
As with Citroën and DS, the Czech brand specifies that cars equipped with a defective airbag can “represent a serious danger to your safety and that of your loved ones”. Skoda is already contacting all its affected customers by mail. In addition, if you do not wish to wait, the manufacturer has set up a form on its website to enter the VIN code of your (…)
