Jean-Pierre Foucault may be a regular with crowns, but he is more often seen with Miss France than with those of active monarchs. On September 11, the presenter swapped beauty queens for a prince, when he crossed paths with Albert of Monaco, who was traveling in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
The presenter and the sovereign met to celebrate a radio station that is close to their hearts: RMC, originally Radio Monte-Carlo. Founded in Monaco in 1943, the media was the first to give a chance to Jean-Pierre Foucault, who made his debut there in 1966, after winning a presenter competition.
The former presenter of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” therefore had to be present at the 50th anniversary of the Roumoules (04) broadcasting centre, which has allowed RMC’s broadcasting area to be extended well beyond the principality’s borders, making it the national radio station it is today. He met Albert II there, who also came to pay tribute to this element of Monegasque heritage.

After an official ceremony in the presence of local political figures, the presenter and the sovereign were able to exchange a few words and bursts of laughter. Before that, each had been able to make a speech at the podium, where a large Monegasque flag was enthroned, to talk about their links with the radio.
