Inter beat Lecce 2-0 at home as goals from Matteo Darmian and Hakan Calhanoglu secured Simone Inzaghi’s side their first win of the season. Darmian gave Inter the lead inside five minutes after the ball bounced in front of the defender who placed it inside the far corner with a towering header.

Calhanoglu doubled the advantage for the hosts from the spot in the 69th minute, after Inter were awarded a penalty for Kialonda Gaspar’s foul on Marcus Thuram. Inter, who were held to a 2-2 draw at Genoa last weekend, have provisionally moved top of the table with four points.

Elsewhere, a second-half double from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens earned Borussia Dortmund a 2-0 home win over FC Bayern Munich in their first Bundesliga game of the season.

Bynoe-Gittens, an England Under-21 international, scored with a superb strike from a tight angle that sailed into the top far corner after he had cut inside the box from the right. Frankfurt came close to a late equaliser but their hopes of salvaging a point were dashed as Bynoe-Gittens scored his second after a quick counterattack in stoppage time to earn Nuri Sahin, the new Dortmund coach, his first three points at the helm.

“It was a hot day and it was a good opponent. Things weren’t running smoothly for us yet,” the Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel said. “We lost a few balls, even though we had a lot of possession overall. It wasn’t a top performance yet, but it was a good first performance. There were a lot of good things we can build on, but also some things we need to work on.”

Monaco secured a 2-0 victory over Lyon in Ligue 1 with goals from the youngsters Eliesse Ben Seghir and Lamine Camara, who was later sent off.
