Botswana: Vice President calls for rigorous financial management | APAnews

Between the fight against waste and optimization of resources, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe sets a new course for the country’s public finances.

Botswana’s Vice President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, urged his fellow citizens for more rigorous management of public budgets during a speech on the 2025-2026 budget to local authorities.

« Each pula must be justified and directed towards projects bringing real added value to the population », declared Mr. Gaolathe during this intervention under the theme “Your budget, your right”.

The vice-president stressed that financial rigor was not only a matter of “ administrative responsibility » but also constituted a “ moral obligation “. To achieve this objective, he recommends several concrete measures: regular maintenance of infrastructure to avoid costly repairs, the elimination of unnecessary expenses, the diversification of sources of income and the fight against corruption.
