“There is Lucinda, whose highly written and sophisticated dance expresses excellence.” On the bill for La Bâtie-Festival de Genève, which begins on August 29 and runs until September 15, Lucinda Childs, a great lady of contemporary dance, will perform solo at the Théâtre de Carouge, this Thursday and Friday. At 84, this is a feat, an event.
The American choreographer is one of the artists that Claude Ratzé singles out among the sixty proposals of this 48th edition with a budget of three million francs, of which 1.8 million comes from the City of Geneva. The director, who is signing his sixth and penultimate program, also notes political anger as a driving force for creation, the lyrical flights of Max Richter, the human possibilities of Wajdi Mouawad or even a duo of circus artists at work at the Parc des Evaux, in Onex, a new address for this nomadic festival that performs on 36 stages, in the city of Geneva and the surrounding area.
