“Taxing the tool of work is one tax too many.” In his office above his vegetable packaging premises, in the heart of the Geneva countryside in the commune of Bardonnex, Georges Vuillod talks about his reality as an entrepreneur before returning to the business of the land. He is worried.

In the Vuillod family, market gardening is in the blood. At 56, he is the representative of the third generation at the head of the company, and the fourth is getting ready. “Four generations of saving, building the work tool”, for a farm of 80 hectares of crops and which employs 50 employees. PAV SA grows, packages and sells vegetables. It is also the owner of Bio Saveurs. The Vuillods produce organic and conventional vegetables, sold in supermarkets, public authorities (schools, daycare centers, hospitals), in partnership with the Union maraîchère de Genève (UMG), a cooperative which ensures marketing and allows farmers to pool resources and crush costs. For several years, PAV has also been making soups, tapenades and preparing ready-to-use vegetables. Hear about twisted carrots and other oddities that do not please the consumer. Thus, 7 to 8% of vegetables are recovered instead of being destroyed due to aesthetic defects.
