The mayor of a big city in the suburbs of New York denounced a police operation the day before against illegal immigrants on Friday – and according to him an American national – while the White House features its policy as Outdoors of undocumented migrants throughout the country.

“The Trump administration arrested 538 illegal criminal migrants” between Wednesday and Thursday evening in the United States, announced the presidence spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, some of whom in Newark, industrial city and New Jersey dormitory, 25 Km of Manhattan.

She also welcomed that “hundreds” of these undocumented people were expelled, using Pentagon planes for the first time.

The Federal Agency Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed this figure, including 373 people placed in detention – among which, according to Ms. Leavitt, “an alleged terrorist, four members of the Venezuelan gang Tren Aragua and several illegal condemned for Sexual crimes on minors “.

Friday, the mayor of Newark Ras Baraka denounced in front of the press a night raid led by police officers in an industrial fish.

“ICE agents intervened in a trade in our city without a mandate,” deplored Mr. Baraka by castigating the arrest according to him of a veteran of American nationality.

“The problem is that none of these people is a rapist, a murderer or a criminal,” added the first magistrate of this so -called “sanctuary” city, like New York. In these localities, illegal immigrants benefit from local police protection against a home arrest, office, school, church or hospital by the government’s federal authorities.

In Newark, “they embarked on three types (…) from Ecuador, I believe (…) everyone is afraid,” said someone who attended the Ice raid but who is not did not give his name to NBC television.

Republican president Donald Trump promised to expel “millions” of immigrants in an irregular situation. Invested on Monday, he signed a series of decrees intended to stop the arrival of these people mainly via the southern border with Mexico.

If the White House prides itself on having launched “the greatest mass expulsion operation in history”, the human rights organization American Immigration Council has castigated “a pure propaganda operation”.

“Last year and in previous years there were already dozens of expulsion flights each week,” his expert Aaron Reichlin-Melnick wrote.

And as a comparison, during the budget year 2024 (from October to the end of September), under the chairmanship of the Democrat Joe Biden, the border police had expelled 271,000 undocumented migrants, an average of 742 people per day.

These people in an irregular situation, who greatly contribute to a number of economic sectors, are some 11 million in the United States, according to the Bureau of Statistics of the Ministry of Internal Security.
