Despite a 0-2 deficit, the Montreal Canadiens never gave up against the Tampa Bay Lightning, as they won by a score of 3 to 2.

Solid performance from Samuel Montembeault, who made 33 saves in his team’s victory. Thus, the CH escaped with 2 colossal points, especially since it was a divisional duel.

From the start, Russian striker Nikita Kucherov took advantage of a blunder by Kaiden Guhle, before scoring the first goal of the match in the first period. A real gift for number 86 of the Lightning.

Then, at the start of the second period, Jake Guentzel doubled his team’s score, with the help of colossal work in the face-off circle, a few moments earlier.

Juraj Slafkovsky scored his seventh goal of the season, finding a miniature opening, thus beating the goalkeeper colossus Andrei Vasilevskiy. Patrik Laine and Lane Hutson had the assists.

A few minutes later, thanks to a superb pass from Laine, Alex Newhook drew a magnificent one-timer, thus leveling the score.

With a good hip toss, Lane Hutson (5ft 9) knocked down giant Nick Paul (6ft 4), proving that number 48 “has some dog”.

With 2:15 left in the game, Jake Evans gave his team the lead with Joel Armia’s 100th career assist. From there, the Habs never looked back.

Note that this was the 200th point of Joel Armia’s career!

David Savard also made a key play in the final seconds of the third period, as he ran out the clock like a true veteran.

The Montreal Canadiens managed to get 2 points in the standings and are back in the playoffs, since the Ottawa Senators lost. Great team victory!

Martin St-Louis’ squad is completely transformed, now counting two consecutive victories against Tampa Bay, let’s say it.
