The Magritte du cinéma ceremony will take place on February 22 in Flagey, Brussels. As this date approaches, the nominees have been communicated by the organization. Among them, there are many Liégeois!

Between Bouli Lanners who is nominated in the “Best Actor” category, 2 films from Versus production nominated in the “Best Film” category and 3 Liège companies (Fraks, Les films du rivière, Tarantula) nominated for “Best Foreign Film” in co-production, this 14th edition of Magritte du cinéma could make many Liégeois shine.
2 Caméra-etc films are also nominated in the “Best animated short film” category. “In a Thousand Petals” directed by Louise Bongartz and “The Birds” by Christel Hortz.

“The night drags” 2 nominations away from beating “The Giants” by Bouli Lanners
In addition to our Liégeois, “La nuit se drags” by Michiel Blanchart is, with 11 nominations, the most nominated film of this 14th edition.

“Amal” by Jawad Rhalib and “Quitter la nuit” by Delphine Girard follow with 9 nominations each. “It’s raining in the house”, by Paloma Sermon-Daï, has a total of eight nominations.
“Les Géants” by Bouli Lanners (2012) and “Une vie démente”, by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni (2022) remain the films with the highest number of nominations (12).
Emilie Dequenne could become the most awarded actress
Nominated in the “Best Actress” category, Lubna Azabal (“Amal”) and Emilie Dequenne (“TKT”) could win a 4th Magritte and become the most awarded actress.
Benoît Poelvorde is nominated twice, in the “Best Actor” category for “The of Being Happy” by Stefan Liberski and in the “Best Supporting Role” category for ‘L’amour ouf’ by Gilles Lellouche.
Note that three of the feature films nominated in the “Best Film” category are first films.
A ceremony presented by Charline Vanhoenacker
The ceremony, of which Charline Vanhoenacker will be the mistress of ceremonies, will be broadcast live on Auvio, the RTBF digital platform. The public service media will then offer the “Belgian cinema week” from February 22 to March 2. Launched in 2020 in the midst of the covid pandemic, this operation allows the public to discover Belgian films on RTBF channels.
