His first decisions will target migrants and transgender people: Donald Trump, at the height of his political power, was inaugurated president of the United States on Monday.

A decree recognizing the existence of only “two sexes”

Donald Trump will sign an executive order ordering his administration to “recognize” the existence of only “two sexes,” future White House officials said Monday, shortly before the inauguration of the Republican, who campaigned by promising to “put an end to the transgender delusion”.

The executive decree aims to “defend women against ideological gender extremism and restore biological truth within the federal state,” an official told the press on condition of anonymity, specifying that the sexual identity of individuals would henceforth be defined exclusively by the gametes they produce. “What we are doing today is to affirm that the policy of the United States is to recognize two sexes: man and woman,” said this source. During his campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly promised to put an end to the “transgender delusion.”

Elimination of support for diversity programs

United States President-elect Donald Trump wants to cut federal aid for programs supporting diversity in the administration, future White House officials said Monday, shortly before the Republican’s inauguration.

“We are going to end this type of funding, we are going to put an end to these programs,” said a source who requested anonymity within the future team, pointing to training on anti-racism and diversity.

National emergency at the border with Mexico

The new Republican president will also declare a national emergency at the border with Mexico and use the American army to ensure surveillance, a government official announced on Monday.

The national emergency “allows the armed forces to be deployed” at the border, he explained, before the inauguration of the new American president. The military will prioritize “the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of the United States by repelling forms of invasion, including illegal mass migration.”

Questioning the right to asylum and land law

Still on the theme of migration which participated in his election, Donald Trump wants to put an end to the right to asylum and land rights, and will issue decrees to this effect from Monday, announced an official of his future administration. “We are going to end the right to asylum, (…) which creates an immediate expulsion procedure without the possibility of asylum. We will then put an end to land law,” he explained.

Take back the Panama Canal

The 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, promised Monday to “take back” control of the Panama Canal, stressing that “the objective of our agreement and the spirit of our treaty have been totally violated”. “We have been very mistreated by this senseless gift that should never have been given. The promise that Panama made to us has not been kept,” President Trump declared in his inaugural address, shortly after his swearing in.

“The purpose of our agreement and the spirit of our treaty have been totally violated. U.S. ships are severely overtaxed and not treated fairly in any way, including the U.S. Navy,” he said. “And most importantly, China operates the Panama Canal, and we didn’t give it to China, we gave it to Panama. And we will take it back,” said the American president.

Plant the American flag on Mars

The President of the United States said Monday during his inauguration speech that the Americans were going to “plant” the American flag “on the planet Mars.”

Under his mandate, he declared, “the United States will once again consider itself a nation of progress, which increases its wealth, expands its territory (…) and carries our flag to new and magnificent horizons. And we will pursue our destiny to the stars, sending American astronauts to plant the star-spangled banner on the planet Mars.

“Tax foreign countries”

Donald Trump has finally promised to tax foreign countries to “enrich American citizens”. “I will immediately begin overhauling our trade system to protect American families and workers. Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will impose customs duties and taxes on foreign countries to enrich our citizens,” declared the 47th American president, who has just been sworn in at the Capitol in Washington.

New exit from the climate agreement

The administration of new US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States would withdraw from the Paris climate agreement for a second time, jeopardizing global efforts to curb global warming.

“President Trump will withdraw from the Paris climate agreement,” the White House said in a statement. The United States, the second largest polluter in the world behind China and the largest historical polluter, had already left the agreement briefly under the Republican’s first mandate, before Joe Biden marked their return.
