FESTIVAL. Les Trois Accords strike a good blow with their Friday evening programming at the Poutine Festival. None other than Californian band Pennywise will take to the main stage on August 8th.
After announcing TALK, Jay Scøtt and Billie du Page at the beginning of December, the organizers are today revealing another part of the program for this 18th edition which promises to be exciting.
Pennywise has been one of the most influential and popular bands in the California punk scene for three decades. For Charles Dubreuil, responsible for the show component of the Drummondville festival, it is a “dream” to welcome this group which played an important role in his development as a musician.
“It’s a band which I really like. In fact, my first show for life, it was Pennywise, at Metropolis in Montreal. I was 14 years old. It was significant for the young musician that I was,” he recalls.
Driven by the desire to always diversify and enrich the festival’s programming, the members of Trois Accords have a list of artists that they aspire to welcome.
“Pennywise is the kind of project I had in mind for several years. But logistically speaking, it is difficult to bring an international artist for one evening… to Drummondville. You have to have the right timing, good contacts too. In the case of Pennywise, we had help from our contacts and the guys will be in New York around August 8, so that makes their travel easier,” explains Charles Dubreuil.
Three other artists are added to the program
The organizers also announce that Claudia Bouvette, Jérôme 50 as well as Mononc’ Serge and Anonymus with The Academy of Massacre will participate in the 18th edition.
“I’m really happy that we’re welcoming Mononc’ Serge and Anonymus. 16 years ago, when they launched their last album together, things didn’t work out, even when Mononc’ Serge did his solo tour. When I saw the publication of the new album, thirty minutes later I wrote to Mononc’ Serge’s agent. It was settled like that!” indicates Charles Dubreuil.
On Saturday August 9, Mononc’ Serge and Anonymus will present their most recent project, French-Canadian metal. We bet that we will also be able to hear a few songs from their other two opuses.
-Then, singer-songwriter Claudia Bouvette will invite festival-goers to discover her new album Diary for the lonely hearts on Thursday August 7. The star of Mixmania 2 et Big Brother Celebrities will certainly charm the audience with his pop, his unique voice and his energy.
Finally, Jérôme 50 will perform his new songs on Friday August 8. This committed and bursting artist saw his song Tokébakikitte smash broadcast records and rise to the top of the French-speaking radio charts.
The next and final announcement will be made in March.
