Tunisia officially expressed, this Saturday, its call to prosecute Israeli officials to “answer for their crimes of genocide”. This declaration was made through a press release from Tunisian diplomacy, relayed on the ministry’s Facebook page.

According to the declaration, “the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement should not make defenders of law and justice around the world forget the responsibility to bring to justice those responsible for the occupying entity for their acts of genocide and massacres against the Palestinian people, our brother.” This position underlines the Tunisian commitment not to let these acts go unpunished.

Tunisia also reiterates “its unwavering support for the determination of the courageous Palestinian people” and their national unity. She sees this period as crucial in the struggle for self-determination and the recovery of the legitimate historical rights of the Palestinians.

By reaffirming its support for “the struggles of the Palestinian people”, Tunisia welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Gaza after more than fifteen months of violence described as genocidal. Tunisia also calls on the international community to take measures to guarantee a lasting ceasefire and to lift the blockade imposed on Gaza.

The ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip will begin on Sunday January 19 at 8:30 a.m. local time, i.e. 06:30 GMT. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, as reported on the website of our colleagues at Anadolu.
