Sierra Leone’s ambassador to Guinea, Alimamy Bangura, was recalled to Freetown on Thursday after the seizure of a diplomatic vehicle and the arrest of its occupants by Guinean authorities, APA learned from an official source.

The incident, which occurred on January 13, involved the seizure of a vehicle belonging to the Sierra Leonean embassy in Conakry. The driver and a passenger were arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine.

Faced with the seriousness of the facts, the Sierra Leonean government immediately opened an investigation to shed light on this matter and establish responsibilities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the recall of Ambassador Bangura and assured Freetown’s full cooperation with the Guinean authorities.
