The film “Demba” by Senegalese director Mamadou Dia won an award this Tuesday, January 14. He won the “Grand Prix du Nile” at the 14th edition of the Luxor African Cinema Festival in Egypt.

This is already the 2nd continental prize for “Demba”. The film had already won the Bronze Tanit at the JCC (Carthage Cinematographic Days) in Tunisia in December 2024. Furthermore, it will be in the running for FESPACO in a few weeks, from February 22 to March 1, 2025. The themes covered in this film are, among other things, grief, mental health, and even resilience.
