L'Aunis Athlétisme La Rochelle Aytré left only crumbs for the other clubs in the department during the Charente-Maritime cross country championships, Sunday January 12, in the cold of Mazeray, near Saint-Jean-d'Angély . All events combined, there were nearly 300 of them who still believed in the values of cross-country running. Values that are being lost, given the starving and worrying participation among young people (11 classified as juniors, 10 as junior girls, 2 junior females and 6 junior males).
Aunis Athletics, fortunately, maintains the cross-country faith with always a handful of courageous people, often the same ones, to put on several bibs over the course of a winter. In the men's long cross, the Rochelais took the first five places with the new king Matisse Perrouault who confirms his progress (including 15'10” over 5 km road in November). He won over the 8,270 meters of the wooded and hilly course with 45 seconds ahead of Jean-Adrien Marault and more than a minute over Loup Desmier. In masters, in the same race, the podium is made up of Pierre Duvernet (Saint-Palais Team Endurance), winner with 12 seconds ahead of Mathieu Le Mouillour (Aunis Athlétisme), and Laurent Chrétien (Entente Rochefort Océan Athlé).
Barriquand titled
Among the women, Aigrefeuillaise Nathalie Barriquand, second last year in Cabariot behind Romane Jaulin – absent on Sunday – won the 6,700 meters with around twenty seconds ahead of Rochelaise Chrystal Monseur, back after studying of medicine and having been in good spirits in the youth categories in Saintes and Angoulême. Third place went to Véronique Guerry (ASPTT La Rochelle).
Finally, in the joint cross court race for men and women, in which the cadets were also associated, Aunis won everything with Guillaume Collet and Flavia Miloud, on the cross courts, and Alexandre Marc as cadet. The Angère Jeanne Beauvery wins as a cadet in front of… all the little boys, entered in the same race.
