In a joint press release, the Galpon, Loup and Alchimic theaters, as well as the Parfumerie, the Gravière and the Amis musiquethéâtre announced that they had suffered an unprecedented series of burglaries. More precisely, these six establishments were targeted eight times between November 19 and December 24, 2024, and even on two occasions in three weeks for Alchimic and Wolf.
Organized crimes?
This repetition makes establishments suspect the worst. According to them, it is likely that an organized and well-informed gang is responsible for these crimes. In fact, the timing of the flights would each time coincide with the last day of a performance. Or “the time when revenues are the highest”, according to the press release.
Furthermore, the way of working of each burglary would have great similarities: a forced entry and substantial tools to force doors and safes. It should be noted that these places are almost all located on the banks of the Arve and within a radius of less than three kilometers.
Significant financial losses
“In addition to these losses and the material damage that we have to face, there is this bitter taste, this extremely unpleasant feeling of having been spied on and analyzed,” the organizations deplore.
The latter indicate that complaints were filed with the police and that the losses were declared to the insurance companies. “Despite this, the financial losses are significant for each of our locations and have an impact on our annual accounts. The balance of our finances includes these revenues. Having lost them following these end-of-year thefts, some of us are closing our accounts with a deficit.”
Climate of paranoia
Indicating that they have taken steps to prevent this from happening again, these establishments remain worried: “Without letting ourselves be overcome by paranoia, we fear that these thugs who seem so well organized and informed will try to start their misdeeds again.”
