What is ERM?
The Regional Mixed Squad (ERM) is a specialized police unit in Quebec. It is made up of members from different police forces, including the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), municipal police services and sometimes other specialized agencies. These squads are established to combat organized crime, complex criminal activities, and serious offenses that exceed the local jurisdiction of a single police force.
MREs often focus on criminal activities such as:
Drug trafficking.
Financial crimes.
Contraband (tobacco, alcohol, etc.).
Firearms and associated violence.
The fight against networks linked to street gangs or traditional organized crime.
Their operation is collaborative, allowing the use of varied resources and expertise to maximize their effectiveness in complex investigations. ERMs play an important role in public safety in Quebec.
