A Kansas driver experienced quite a scare when a huge chunk of ice smashed the windshield of his truck on a US highway on Thursday.
The man was on Highway 50 after a snowstorm in the state of Kansas. The windshield surveillance camera captured the moment.
In the video, a vehicle was driving in the opposite direction of the truck. As the two vehicles were about to pass each other, a huge fragment of ice broke off from the roof of the car and was projected into the windshield of the truck, which then completely shattered.
The driver was able to stop safely near the town of Cedar Point, Fox News reported. He suffered some minor injuries which did not require transport to hospital.
The Chase County Sheriff’s Office reiterated the importance of clearing snow and ice from your car. This could have prevented such an accident, according to him.
“We can all do a little better to clear snow and ice from our vehicles before hitting the road,” he told the American media. “Although [le conducteur] suffered minor cuts […]the situation could have been much worse.”
